OVERVIEW

Understanding Iris DyeVL

Iris DyeVL is a targeted light-based treatment available through House of Youthful Skin’s clinic partnership with Esteem Life in Glasgow.

Using the Alma Harmony platform, DyeVL delivers narrow-band intense pulsed light to selected areas of pigmentation and vascular redness.

It may be considered for concerns such as sun spots, superficial pigmentation, uneven-looking tone, persistent facial redness and visible small blood vessels.

Unlike resurfacing treatments such as Hybrid CO2 Laser, DyeVL is designed to target colour within the skin rather than remove or resurface the skin surface.

A consultation is important because not every pigmented or vascular concern is appropriate for IPL. The clinician will assess the nature of the concern before treatment and determine whether DyeVL is suitable.

THE TREATMENT

How it works

Iris DyeVL uses controlled bands of intense pulsed light delivered through the Alma Harmony platform.

The light energy is absorbed by selected pigment or blood-vessel targets within the skin. This produces controlled heat within those targets while integrated cooling helps support skin comfort during treatment.

For pigmentation, treatment is designed to target excess visible pigment. For vascular concerns, the light is absorbed by blood within selected vessels, helping reduce their visible appearance over time.

DyeVL is a light-based treatment rather than an ablative resurfacing procedure, so its role is different from treatments such as Hybrid CO2 Laser.

Treatment settings are selected by the clinician according to skin type, the concern being treated and the results of the consultation.

YOUR APPOINTMENT

What to expect

Your appointment begins with an assessment of the pigmentation, redness or visible vessels you would like to address.

The clinician will review your skin type, medical history, medications, recent tanning, previous treatments and the nature of the concern before determining whether IPL is appropriate.

If treatment proceeds, the skin is cleansed and appropriate eye protection is used.

During treatment you may notice warmth or a brief snapping sensation as individual pulses of light are delivered.

Temporary redness, mild swelling or sensitivity may occur afterwards. Pigmented areas can also temporarily appear darker before gradually fading.

The number of sessions required varies according to the concern and individual response.

RESULTS + TIMELINE

A gradual, individual process

Iris DyeVL is designed to support progressive improvement in the appearance of selected pigmentation, facial redness and visible vessels.

Pigmented areas may initially darken following treatment before gradually becoming less visible as the skin responds.

Vascular redness and small visible vessels may also become less noticeable over a course of treatment.

Results vary depending on the nature and depth of the concern, skin type, sun exposure and individual response.

More than one session may be recommended, and complete clearance of pigmentation or vessels cannot be guaranteed. Some concerns may also recur over time.

05

SUITABILITY

Is Iris DyeVL right for you?

Iris DyeVL may be considered for clients concerned about selected superficial pigmentation, sun spots, uneven-looking tone, persistent facial redness or visible small vessels.

A consultation is required because not every pigmented or vascular lesion is appropriate for IPL treatment.

The clinician will assess your skin type, medical history, current medications, recent sun exposure or tanning and previous procedures before making a recommendation.

Treatment may need to be postponed or may not be appropriate where there is recent tanning, significant photosensitivity, certain medications, active infection or an undiagnosed skin lesion.

Suspicious, changing or unexplained pigmented lesions should be medically assessed rather than treated cosmetically.

If DyeVL is not considered the most appropriate route, alternative treatment or medical assessment may be recommended.

AFTERCARE

Looking after your skin afterwards

Follow the personalised aftercare instructions provided by your clinician, as these should always take priority over general skincare advice.

Keep the skin clean and use a gentle skincare routine while the treated area settles.

Avoid picking or exfoliating areas of pigmentation that temporarily become darker after treatment.

Strong retinoids, exfoliating acids and other potentially irritating active skincare should be paused until your clinician advises that they can be restarted.

Avoid tanning and unnecessary sun exposure, and use daily broad-spectrum sun protection.

Excessive heat should also be avoided during the initial recovery period if advised by your clinician.

Contact the clinic if you experience unexpected blistering, marked swelling, increasing pain or another reaction that concerns you.

PROFESSIONAL HOMECARE

Support your skin beyond the treatment room.

Professional SkinCeuticals homecare that may complement your wider skin plan. Your practitioner will advise when products are suitable to use around treatment.
