OVERVIEW

Understanding Nasolabial Fold Filler

Nasolabial folds are the lines that run from either side of the nose towards the corners of the mouth. They are a completely natural part of facial anatomy, but they can become deeper and more noticeable as facial volume, skin quality and structural support change over time.

For some people, deeper folds can create a heavier or more tired appearance through the centre of the face.

Nasolabial fold filler is not simply about filling the visible line.

Nanda assesses the entire area first, including your cheeks, mid-face support, mouth, surrounding volume and facial proportions.

This is important because a visible nasolabial fold can sometimes be influenced by changes occurring higher in the face. Simply placing large amounts of filler directly into the crease is not always the most natural-looking solution.

With extensive experience in aesthetics, Nanda uses her understanding of facial anatomy and proportion to decide where filler will create the greatest improvement with the least unnecessary volume.

For clients searching for nasolabial fold filler in Glasgow, smile line filler or treatment for lines around the nose and mouth, the goal is a softer, fresher appearance while keeping your face expressive and recognisably yours.

THE TREATMENT

How it works

Nasolabial folds can become more visible through a combination of facial movement, changes in skin elasticity, changes in facial fat distribution and reduced structural support.

Dermal filler can be strategically placed to restore selected areas of support and soften the depth or shadow created by the fold.

Nanda does not use a one-technique-fits-everyone approach.

She assesses whether the fold itself needs treatment or whether supporting another area of the face would create a more balanced result.

Small, controlled amounts of filler can then be positioned according to your anatomy.

The objective is not to remove every natural crease from the face.

It is to reduce excessive depth and shadow while preserving expression and facial character.

YOUR APPOINTMENT

What to expect

Your appointment begins with a detailed consultation with Nanda.

She will assess your face from different angles and look at how the nasolabial folds behave both at rest and when you smile.

She may also assess the cheeks and surrounding facial structures because these can contribute to the appearance of the folds.

You will discuss what bothers you, how much change you would like and whether dermal filler is the most appropriate treatment.

If treatment is suitable, small amounts of filler are carefully placed into selected areas according to your individual treatment plan.

You may experience brief pressure, pinching or tenderness during treatment.

Some swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising can occur afterwards.

The treated area may initially appear slightly fuller because of swelling, so the final result should be assessed once the area has settled.

RESULTS + TIMELINE

A gradual, individual process

An improvement can usually be seen immediately after treatment, although early swelling means this is not yet the final result.

As swelling settles, the transition between the cheek, nasolabial fold and mouth area should begin to appear softer and more balanced.

The degree of improvement depends on factors including the depth of the fold, facial anatomy, skin quality, existing volume and how much filler is appropriate for your face.

The aim is softening rather than completely removing the fold.

Natural facial movement should remain.

Dermal filler results are temporary and longevity varies between clients depending on the product used, treatment area, metabolism and individual response.

Nanda will reassess your face before recommending further treatment rather than simply continuing to add filler.

SUITABILITY

Is Nasolabial Fold Filler right for you?

Nasolabial fold filler may be suitable if you feel that deeper smile lines or folds around the nose and mouth are making your face appear more tired, heavy or aged than you feel.

However, treating the visible fold directly is not always the correct approach.

In some clients, reduced cheek or mid-face support contributes significantly to the appearance of the nasolabial area.

Nanda will therefore assess why the fold has become prominent before deciding where treatment should be placed.

This is one of the most important differences between experienced facial assessment and simply injecting filler into a line.

Your consultation will also cover your medical history, medication, allergies, previous dermal filler and previous aesthetic treatments.

If existing filler is contributing to an undesirable result, Nanda may recommend reassessment or another approach rather than adding further product.

Possible risks including swelling, bruising, tenderness, asymmetry, lumps, infection and vascular complications will be discussed during your consultation and consent process.
