OVERVIEW

Understanding Microblading Brows

Brows have a major influence on how the entire face is framed.

Their shape can affect the appearance of the eyes, facial symmetry and even how lifted or balanced the upper face appears.

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent brow enhancement that uses carefully placed pigment strokes designed to imitate the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs.

But convincing microblading is not simply about adding more strokes.

It requires an understanding of facial proportions, brow structure, natural hair growth, colour selection and how the pigment will heal within your individual skin.

Nanda has an established background in permanent makeup and microblading, with clients specifically returning to Prado Aesthetics for her brow work and describing her as highly experienced in the treatment.

Before treatment, Nanda maps the brows around your existing features rather than applying a standard eyebrow template.

Your natural hair, facial symmetry, brow height, arch, thickness and desired finish are all considered before the first stroke is created.

For clients searching for microblading in Glasgow, semi-permanent eyebrows, permanent makeup brows or natural-looking eyebrow microblading, the goal is brows that look intentionally refined without appearing drawn on.

THE TREATMENT

How it works

Microblading uses a specialist handheld tool containing very fine needles to implant pigment superficially into the skin.

Rather than creating one solid block of colour, Nanda creates individual strokes designed to resemble natural brow hairs.

The process begins with detailed brow mapping.

Measurements and visual assessment are used to establish the intended starting point, arch, thickness and tail of each brow.

This is not about forcing both brows to become mathematically identical.

Faces naturally contain asymmetry.

The objective is to create better visual balance while preserving a result that looks appropriate for your individual face.

Once the proposed shape has been agreed, an appropriate pigment shade is selected.

The hair strokes are then created gradually within the planned brow design.

The finished colour initially appears stronger and darker than the healed result.

As the skin heals, the pigment softens and the final appearance becomes more natural.

YOUR APPOINTMENT

What to expect

Your appointment begins with a detailed consultation with Nanda.

She will assess:

  • Your natural eyebrow hair
  • Current brow shape
  • Areas of thinning or sparseness
  • Facial symmetry
  • Skin type
  • Previous permanent makeup
  • Desired brow thickness
  • Preferred level of definition
  • Hair and skin colouring
  • Any existing scar tissue within the brow

The brows are then carefully mapped.

You will be able to see and discuss the proposed shape before pigment is implanted.

This stage is extremely important.

Nanda would rather spend additional time establishing the correct brow than rush into permanent makeup with a shape you are unsure about.

Once the design has been agreed, the skin is prepared and the microblading process begins.

You may feel scratching, pressure or mild discomfort during treatment.

Immediately afterwards, the brows will appear more defined and the pigment usually looks darker than the eventual healed result.

Some redness and tenderness can also occur.

RESULTS + TIMELINE

A gradual, individual process

Fresh microblading does not represent the final healed colour.

Immediately after treatment, the brows generally look darker and more defined.

Over the following days, the skin begins to heal.

The brows may temporarily appear:

  • Darker
  • More intense
  • Dry
  • Slightly flaky
  • Patchy during healing
  • Lighter at certain stages of recovery

This is why the final result should not be judged immediately.

Once healing progresses, the pigment softens and the hair strokes should integrate more naturally with the existing brow.

A follow-up or refinement appointment may be required after the initial healing period.

Microblading is semi-permanent.

Pigment gradually fades over time, with longevity influenced by skin type, skincare, sun exposure, lifestyle, pigment retention and individual healing.

Oilier skin can sometimes retain fine microbladed strokes differently from drier skin, which is another reason consultation matters.

SUITABILITY

Is Microblading Brows right for you?

Microblading may be suitable if you have:

  • Naturally sparse eyebrows
  • Areas where brow hair is missing
  • Uneven-looking brows
  • Reduced brow density
  • Brow tails that lack definition
  • A desire to improve brow shape
  • Difficulty creating consistent brows with makeup
  • A preference for natural-looking hair strokes
  • Previously over-plucked brows

However, microblading is not automatically the best permanent-makeup technique for every skin type or brow.

If you already have previous permanent makeup, Nanda must assess the existing pigment before deciding whether new work can be placed over it.

Very oily skin, significant previous pigment, scarring or particular skin conditions can also influence the technique selected and how well fine strokes are likely to heal.

Where another permanent-makeup technique would give a more predictable result, Nanda can explain this during consultation.

Your medical history, medication, allergies, previous permanent makeup and healing history will also be reviewed.
